How you loved your stories and TV lives
And your living room filled with pirate’s booty
I am your oldest grandson
A nexus of generations

I hear you in the kitchen calling Sue
I see you buttering that awful white bread
With that killer spread
I remember your red cups

Those moments on the pier
Telling me, “Watch your pole now!”
Laughing at the smelly fish and shrimp
They always got away
I was not born for that

I loved your soft Tennessee drawl

Bingo!

I used to love to watch you play
How could you juggle all those cards so well

I remember the smell of the pines and tar
All those cigarettes, phew
As we pulled into the drive
Of your little cinder block house
My stomach jumped for Joy
It was always a mansion to me
And you were the fair lady of the tower
My protector
I wish I had not slipped away in the buzz of life
I wish I had remembered you on the important days
I live a life of Love and Light now
I have put childish things away
I promise to live with no regret
And burn brighter than the sun

I will repay my debt to you with my open arms

I am naked before the world
I am a foolish man
I have fallen for the oldest tricks
Who can I trust

You can only trust in what is within
I always doubted my voice
I was always pushed away or out
I always asked too many questions
I let myself and others down following my lusts and passions
I lived in fear for my very soul
Then, at the right times, seeds were planted
Embers flamed
And I found myself at the Gate of Humility
Many hands pulled me forward
Doubts melting away
Shedding fear
And feeling boundless love
I found something so true and so precious
I wish I could shoot my heart upon the world
So all could taste of the sweet truth singing in my blood

I see a great darkness creeping at the fringes of our world
An ancient foe
How can we contain such darkness
Only with the cleansing purifying fire of the light
You must be righteous and true to walk this path
There is no room for the old ways
If I don’t let it shine

It is time to rise and shuck off the shackles of ignorance

It is time to resist in love
It is time to learn what you truly are

I am on the edge of a new dawn
It makes me laugh with joy to see and know myself

With the wonder of a child
How can this be real

The nano fibers of my being begin to connect

I confess my need for something more than myself
I walk with no faith or belief
I begin to rise and move without knowing
Where will this path lead

The Dancing Blue Girl

I had a blue dream
I saw a flowing blue river
Lapping on the shores of my doubt
I lept into the rushing waters
Leaving all behind
A problem
I never learned to swim
Another came who saw my thrashing
Patiently he reached out a hand
The stranger pulled me into his boat
I looked into his cosmic dark eyes
Ageless wisdom probing deep
Stripped naked
The dark night came and overtook me
I almost lost myself
The stranger spoke a tongue I’d never heard
Slowly I began to understand
He dried me off and began to sing
I seemed to know this song
I felt it rising from deep within
My whole body vibrating
I made a sound
I was singing in our small boat with my new friend
As we shared our hearts in song
In our little boat
I looked to the shore
I saw another dancing there
Familiar, I asked her name
You know me she said
Slowly the realization turned in me
Like a screw into my heart
I began to weep and then I remembered
We met long ago and agreed
To meet on the river’s shore
As I heard the song on my lips
The stranger pushed me out of the boat
I struggled to reach the shore
The beautiful blue glowing girl dove in after me
She came at me fast as I spun in the eddie
We lunged for one another
And down we went
Slowly I found her eyes with mine
We shared our breath under those blue waters
We stopped thrashing
And floated to the surface
We clutched for one another and held tight
The swift river pulling us forward
Slowly we awoke together and found ourselves
On a blue ocean shore
What did you dream my love
I saw you dancing on blue shores

Sometimes It Hurts

Sometimes you may need to stand alone
Love can be threatening
How can that be
It hurts

Sometimes you have to follow the Light
Love knowing the pain in others
Hope that dawn will break
Never avoid the Truth
